Wedding favors are little gifts given by the bride and groom as a token of thanks to their guests for joining them on their special day. In the past, wedding favors would traditionally have consisted of almonds or chocolates in small boxes or nets, but these days favors have become far more sophisticated.
Fridge magnets are one of those favors that you can easily create yourself at home with a bit of creative thinking, a computer and some photo editing software. Magnet kits are widely available from craft stores or you can check out online printing services who will allow you to upload your image and they will do the rest for you.
Here are a few ideas as to what to put on your fridge magnet favors:
o A simple thank you message in a pretty script style font
o A photograph of you both along with a thank you message
o A love poem either traditional or one you have composed yourself
o Create the words thank you and take a photograph. For instance writing thank you in the sand on the beach or using natural things like leaves, twigs, flowers and fruit. Be creative and think outside of the box with this one!
o Play around with Photoshop and turn a photograph of yourselves in to a pencil drawing, a watercolor or something more abstract.
o If your wedding stationery featured a motif or graphical element use that to create a simple and stylish design, you can then add your thank you message in the same font as used on your stationery
o Send your favors posthumously. Ask your wedding photographer to take pictures of your guests at the wedding and then have them made up into fridge magnets. You can send them out with your thank you notes after the wedding.
o If you are the artistic type then create your own original artwork, scan it into your computer and resize for your magnets.
o Are you good at sewing? Try creating something with cross-stitch or needlepoint. It doesn't have to be very big and it will certainly make for an original gift.
o Give your magnets a dual function by including a calendar alongside, many print services will offer various designs that include calendars. Depending on the time of year of your wedding you may want to use the following year's calendar instead of the current one.
Magnets are such an easy wedding favor to create and one which will not only delight your guests but one which is useful as well. They make great, lasting keepsakes of your wedding day and your guests are sure to actually employ them rather than stash them away in a drawer somewhere!
