Psychology of Sport and exercise - young sportswomen in Distress

Over the years I have advised many elite gymnasts. Recently, an Olympic champion in gymnastics came from Japan to my office to get advice on my approaches athletes. The winners of gold medals, which also has a bronze in the high bar it came with a dozen therapists, counselors and coaches and athletes.

Most athletes that I recommended were women. This experience often a considerable amount of stress. The stress comes from a series ofSources.

First, get a lot of gymnasts after they are afraid of evil is when you try a new move or slide, and during a competition. Present with symptoms that are very similar to post-traumatic stress disorder. Many gymnasts, which I have considerable concern and several injuries, we are frightened and run affects their ability, their potential can be recommended.

Although they compete while injured are under pressure, are at risk ofan additional risk of injury. You may not good in gymnastics, if an injury or a fear of deterioration in your mind and your thoughts injured.

Secondly, many gymnasts enormous pressure to report to a low body weight to hold. Some bulimic behavior not laughed at by coaches and other athletes. And not many gyms educate children about healthy eating and a healthy diet for athletes.

The obsession with weight is a problem in our general culture, but appears to beexponentially worse in the world of gymnasts.

Thirdly, not a lot of girls who receive a growth spurt to know how they did when they were smaller and easier to live. This change can be very disturbing, a gymnast, a finding that the sport had to be simple enough, before their physical changes.

Fourth, some gyms and coaches have a more combative approach to gymnastics training. This kind of philosophy or method is right for some children, but is not suitable for everyonechildren.

Fifth, some gyms are not careful enough to help young people avoid accidents.

Sixthly, conflicts among young people, parents and coaches widespread and intense sport.

Seventh gyms, many neglect to provide adequate training on the mental aspects of competing in gymnastics.

Recently I called a young gymnast. When they were on the phone, he scored, "Dr. Granat, I know your voice. We play a CD of your programs in the gym I train at allTime. "I was very glad to hear that one of my programs were used to help some of the gymnasts with the mental aspects of the game."
